Head out to Corydon and Lilac to have a taste from a new bakery that opened up last week. Reignite your love and appreciation for all things carbohydrate at The Pennyloaf Bakery at 858 Corydon. I popped in for their opening last weekend and tried the Maple Walnut scone. It was so delicious that I went back today to sample a few more items:
- Raspberries & Cream Scone
- Cheddar and Green Onion Country Sourdough Loaf
- Cheese Biscuit
- Sweet Pastry Pocket (blueberry)
Needless to say, I am quite full. Every item I tried was worthy of a return to The Pennyloaf Bakery. Prices for the loaves of bread were about $7.50 with the other goodies I tried ranging from ~$2.50 to $7.00. To my delight, I was given the scone for free!
The bakers have the full menu listed on the website (www.thepennyloaf.com); however, each day different breads and treats are offered, so make sure to call ahead if you have a particular loaf in mind (204-452-2957). I was excited to see that they offered a variety of items from breadcrumbs to cakes and all things sweet and savory for those out there who don’t have much of a sweet tooth.
